This piece is a more cumulative reflection on my life as a writer, and my experience in the gateway course. This project serves as the opening to my ePortfolio and it seeks to make an evidence-based reflective argument about How, and Why, I write. I chose to touch on experiences I’ve had earlier on in my life, that relate to writing, and those experiences that are particularly pertinent to the minor in writing. For example, I drew upon a memory from my childhood as the point at which I decided I want to write for an audience, and then moved into some more recent projects in my college classes that contribute to my identity as a writer.

I did this essay as a collage, with titled entries that each explore a time that I grew as a writer, and subsequently, an author. I felt that this form was most appropriate because it’s compatible with the holes in my chronology, and it allows me to develop each argument individually, without the interaction of the other entries. In this way, it was easier for me to organize my thoughts. Also, this was a form that I enjoyed writing in for my Creative Nonfiction class (You can see how I used this collage strategy in the "Other Work" section of my ePortfolio).
